SCHOOL HEALTH CENTER FACTS

As you may have noticed, Boothbay High School now has a  Health Center (like a doctor's office) as well as a social worker to work with us about mental health issues, substance abuse, and anger management. If you need counseling, or help with substance abuse, or need a confidential pregnancy test or are worried about your cavities, come to the health center.we can help!

The School Health Center is now located by Mrs. McNulty's old room on the the third floor of the High School and is the place to come when you have any questions about your health, your teeth, or even your mood.

The Health Center has created a team of students from every grade (9-12) and a few community members to help make our students healthier and help the school become a better place to learn. It is called the Student Health Center Advisory Board. The Advisory Board concentrates not only on drug and alcohol problems but healthy living issues. As you may recall two years ago we did a survey on which kind of pizza crust YOU liked best and that had a tremendous impact on what is being served for pizza. We also focus on having healthy foods in the school and in the Café and we are working on getting a greenhouse going, so we can grow our own fresh greens for school lunch. We worked on the Wellness Policy for the schools, and petitioned the School Board so we could have mental, dental, and reproductive health services available at our Health Center . If any of you want to join us, you are welcome to. Just contact Anne Barker at the Health Center , or one of us.
